Many current health insurance options that uninsured Vermonters can purchase are expensive and/or do not offer broad coverage.

Act 191 of 2006 created Catamount Health, a lower cost comprehensive health insurance product for uninsured Vermonters that became available on October 1, 2007 in the non-group market.  Catamount Health is one of the coverage options available under Green Mountain Care.

The State also has examined changes in the non-group insurance market to improve the affordability of the other health insurance products that individuals can purchase.
