Catamount Health Assistance Program Eligibility

Provide Assistance with Insurance Affordability

Am I eligible for the Catamount Health Assistance Program (CHAP)?

If you are eligible for a Catamount Health plan, the state may provide you with financial assistance to help pay the monthly premium for Catamount Health if:

Your household income is under 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL), and you meet one of the following conditions:

  • You do not have access through your employer to insurance that has comprehensive benefits as determined by the state, OR
  • Your employer’s health insurance plan does have comprehensive benefits, and it costs the state less to offer you premium assistance for your enrollment in a Catamount Health plan than the cost of providing Employer-Sponsored Insurance (ESI) Premium Assistance to enroll in your employer's plan, OR
  • You are waiting for the open enrollment period to enroll in your employer’s plan
