Who Does What in Vermont Health Care Reform?

The Director of Health Care Reform in the Agency of Administration is responsible for coordination of health care reform efforts across state government. At the core of these efforts is implementation of the principles for health care reform called for in Act 48 (2011). The Director oversees collaboration of health care reform initiatives across executive branch agencies, departments, offices, and the Green Mountain Care Board.

The Green Mountain Care Board is an independent board created by Act 48 charged with ensuring that changes in the health system improve quality while stabilizing costs.

The Department of Vermont Health Access is responsible for administering and operating Vermont’s publicly funded health insurance programs.

The Vermont Health Information Technology Plan is the implementation of an integrated electronic health information infrastructure for the sharing of electronic health information among health care facilities, health care professionals, public and private payers, and patients.

The Vermont Health Care Innovation Project uses federal State Innovation Model (SIM) grant funds to support improvements in the state’s health care system.
